New downloadable/printable bin calendar launched
Some of you may be missing the annual bin collection calendar stuck to the fridge or inside of the kitchen cupboard. We didn’t provide printed calendars this year for a number of reasons including as part of our transformation agenda to make our services more digital.
However, we’ve also developed a system allowing people to download a calendar for themselves – either to have on a mobile device or to print out at home. This can be found at the link below. The online system showing your next collections which also allows you to report a missed bin, continues to also be available on this link.

£10.5m funding boost for road and farming projects
Two projects in Allerdale have received a £10.5m funding boost from Cumbria's Local Enterprise Partnership (CLEP) through the Government's Getting Building Fund.
CLEP received the funding to support shovel-ready projects that can be delivered by March 2022, with the allocation based on population, COVID-19 exposure and resilience. Two projects have been prioritised by the LEP to receive investment.
Firstly, a Vertical Farming Centre of Excellence at Lillyhall will create one of the largest integrated vertical farming operations in the UK and create 360 new jobs. A £5.5m grant will unlock £48.8m of private sector investment and create a 70,000m 2 carbon neutral facility.
Secondly, a further £5m will be invested to deliver improvements on the A595 at Bothel. The scheme will enable junction enhancements at Bothel/Torpenhow as well as preliminary works to enable a larger scheme that will deliver climbing lanes and broader route alignment.
Cllr Mike Johnson, Deputy Leader of Allerdale Borough Council (pictured), said: “It is great to see such significant investment coming into Allerdale with these two key projects helping to provide hundreds of new jobs for the area and much-needed improvements in infrastructure."

Our Visit Allerdale team have created links which show filtered results for all eateries in all of Allerdale's seven towns.

Annual electoral canvas starts in Allerdale
Many households across Allerdale will begin to receive forms this week asking residents to check whether the information that appears on the electoral register for those living at their address is correct.
The process is part of our annual household canvas which ensures the electoral register is up to date and to identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so.

Time running out to claim Covid-19 business grant
With less than two weeks left to apply, eligible businesses and organisations in Allerdale are being encouraged to submit their application for discretionary grants of up to £25,000.
The scheme has been set-up to help businesses affected by the coronavirus outbreak and lockdown. Due to their vital role in the community, the Council is particularly keen to get applications from charitable or community interest organisations that have seen a drop in trading income. With money being paid as soon as the application is approved, the Council has already paid out more than £330,000 to 20 organisations in the past two weeks.

Bid submitted for Maryport town centre regeneration
Many thanks to everyone who supported us and helped with our bid to the Future High Streets Fund to help regenerate Maryport.
Our proposals included revamping The Wave centre, breathing new life into The Carlton, converting Christ Church into museum/gallery space, the creation of a shared event/market space called Empire Yard and a host of improvements to public realm areas.
We've now submitted the bid to the Government and expect to hear back in the autumn. Fingers crossed!

Please park considerately
It's important that when you leave your car or van outside on the street that there's enough room for another larger vehicle such as an ambulance, fire engine or bin lorry to pass.
The crews from Allerdale Waste Services have reported a number of areas across the borough where cars are blocking their access and the crews are therefore unable to collect the bins from some properties. This is impacting on the service we can offer you and your neighbours.
Remember, don't block the roads with your vehicle - a bin lorry and similar-sized emergency vehicle would need about two car widths to pass through.
