Working Together to Keep Our Neighborhoods Safe & Secure
As part of the annual National Night Out Campaign, this year's Project 365 theme is Aware & Prepared, focused on keeping community partnerships strong through encouraging residents to work together to keep our neighborhoods safe and secure. Each month throughout the year, the Neighborhood Services Department centralizes its efforts on focus areas to expand upon the Project 365 theme. With National Night Out right around the corner, September 2025 is all about encouraging participation in one of Neighborhood Services' largest and most impactful outreach efforts of the year!
 What is National Night Out?
National Night Out (NNO) is part of a nationwide initiative and The Woodlands has made it uniquely its own with strong participation from residents, law enforcement, The Woodlands Fire Department and Township staff. NNO is designed to:
- Heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention
- Generate support for local anti-crime efforts
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
- Show criminals our neighborhoods stand strong and united
Learn more about the initiative and how it’s celebrated across the nation at the National Association of Town Watch Website.
How Do I Get Involved?
Getting involved is simple, fun, and rewarding – whether you’re hosting a small get-together or joining a neighborhood event! NNO is your chance to celebrate community spirit and play a part in keeping our community safe.
The initiative encourages neighbor knowing neighbor – one of the most effective ways to prevent crime. Attractions include a theme party contest, sidewalk chalk art competition, selfie with public safety contest, food drive-in partnership with Interfaith of the Woodlands, I.D. the burglar village challenge, and the NNO military drive. Registering your gathering or event with The Woodlands Township allows you to have a brief visit from local law enforcement and The Woodlands Fire Department.
Plan and Register Your Party!
NNO gatherings and parties will be held Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 3 to 6 p.m. The 2025 NNO Party Guide includes helpful tips, fun ideas and everything you need to plan a successful neighborhood gathering. After registering your party with the Township, please plan to pick up your party supplies on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The Woodlands Township (Board Chamber entrance) at 2801 Technology Forest Blvd.
Why Walk, Bike or Roll to School?
October is International Walk to School Month, and the Township encourages students and families to join in celebrating the many benefits of walking or biking to school. Active trips to school promote healthier habits through physical activity, which in turn can lead to positive lifelong behaviors. Additionally, entire communities benefit from these efforts through less traffic congestion, reduced vehicle emissions and enhanced sense of community. Walking and biking to school brings families, neighbors and school officials together, as these activities foster communication inside the school and along the pathways.
