 Vine Management & Reforestation
The Woodlands Township will begin a Vine Removal Project from the community entrance, north of Blue Fox, along the east side of Grogan’s Mill Road. Periodic vine removal and reforestation revitalizes the forest and prevents unhealthy and potentially hazardous conditions for trees. Once invasive vines are removed, contractors will plant 15- and 30-gallon trees to restore the forest.

 Mowing Schedules Aligned with Nature
As wildflowers bloom, residents may wonder about streetscape maintenance in The Woodlands. Roadside mowing typically begins in February or March along major roads like Lake Woodlands, Gosling, and Kuykendahl, as well as neighborhood streets. The Township’s approach balances nature’s cycle with adopted maintenance standards.
When weather conditions include high temperatures, rain, humidity and extended growing periods, roadsides may take on a "shaggy" or unkempt look. This is often caused by Bahia (Bah-HEE-yah) grass, which can grow over a foot in less than a week. Because of its rapid growth, Bahia grass helps prevent soil erosion and thrives without additional watering, and helps to support wildflowers.

 Together for a Cleaner Community
Throughout April, Township Environmental Services will be dedicating the month to environmental awareness, education and action. From community cleanups to sustainability tips, Environmental Services will be sharing ways residents can get involved in protecting our local environment. Follow us on social media to stay updated on initiatives, events, and simple actions you can take to make a difference!
As part of this month-long focus, we invite you to be a citizen scientist for the day at the Community Litter Audit! Gather your friends and family and join us at the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Participants will collect litter, sort and analyze findings, and contribute valuable data to the Keep Texas Beautiful Texas Litter Database. This hands-on experience will help you learn how litter impacts our water, explore the science behind pollution, and take an active role in keeping our neighborhood cleaner and greener.
Early registration is encouraged to ensure supplies and equipment, but walk-up registration is welcome on the morning of the event. Gloves, litter pickers, and trash bags will be provided. Let’s make a difference together while enjoying the great outdoors!
