 Stay informed and prepared
Winter is here with freezing temperatures forecasted - so it's essential to stay informed and prepared. A prolonged period of colder than normal temperatures is likely in southeast Texas beginning Saturday night, with the coldest temperatures expected Monday through Wednesday. This storm system is expected to bring precipitation to the region Monday night through Tuesday. Given the cold air mass in place, the chance of precipitation falling in the form of snow or ice continues to increase. Residents should take precautions to stay safe during the cold snap.
Remember the Winter Weather Essentials: People, Pets, Pipes and Plants. Keep yourself and loved ones warm and safe by dressing in layers and checking on neighbors. Bring pets indoors, ensuring they have food and water. Protect pipes from freezing by insulating them. Lastly, shield plants from the cold by covering them or moving them inside. If you use space heaters, keep them away from flammable materials and never leave them unattended.
A little preparation goes a long way in staying safe and cozy during winter. Keep an eye on updates from the National Weather Service (NWS) for timely forecasts, alerts and warnings. Stay informed of local winter weather impacts by signing up for Township Alerts and receive updates about facility closures, delays and other critical notifications directly to your phone or email.

 Township Holiday Closures
The Woodlands Township offices will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
The Woodlands Express and Town Center Trolleys will operate as usual along with Texas TreeVentures (open extended hours). The Ice Rink at Town Center sessions open at 12:30 p.m. Riva Row Boat House and both Recreation Centers will be closed. Please note - there will be no disruption of trash and recycling services due to the holiday.
As we prepare for the expected freezing temperatures next week, all restroom facilities in the Parks system will be closed starting Monday morning, January 20th, and will remain closed until the freezing conditions have passed. We are closely monitoring the weather and will provide updates on any additional impacts to Township facilities and services.
