50th Anniversary Kick-Off
On Monday, October 14, 2024, at 10 a.m., community leaders will gather at the Hughes Landing Band Shell to kick off the celebratory week. The event will include proclamations from state, regional, and local officials, along with the dedication of a time capsule to mark this historic occasion.
50th Anniversary Day of Giving

These initiatives are made possible through a partnership with Interfaith of The Woodlands, the first nonprofit organization in our community’s history.
50th Anniversary Tree Dedication
Environmental stewardship is a core value in The Woodlands. To honor this, a significant oak tree will be dedicated at Northshore Park, and an additional tree will be planted in each residential village in collaboration with the Village Associations. The dedication ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Northshore Park.
50th Anniversary Mural Unveiling
Celebrate the arts as a new mural along The Woodlands Waterway® is unveiled, representing the creative spirit of our community. Local artists Marlo Saucedo and Amy Malkan have been hard at work on this beautiful piece, which will be revealed at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the Millennium Sculpture, southside of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Special thanks to The Woodlands Arts Council for facilitating the artist selection process.
50th Anniversary Celebration Concert
Presented by Howard Hughes, enjoy an unforgettable evening featuring Lyle Lovett and his Large Band, along with performances by Jack Ingram and Hayes Carll. This free concert will take place at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, one of the world’s premier outdoor amphitheaters.  Wildflower Festival
The Woodlands Wildflower Festival will take place on Saturday, October 19 before the evening's Grand Celebration. This beloved annual event, held at Northshore Park, offers hundreds of wildflower seed packets and features a variety of family-friendly activities. The festival runs from noon to 4 p.m., so be sure to join the fun! Stick around or return later for the Grand Celebration, where the arcade and Ferris wheel will open for more excitement.
 50th Anniversary Grand Celebration
On October 19, The Woodlands celebrates its 50th anniversary! A grand public celebration, produced by The Woodlands Township, will take place at Northshore Park and the Hughes Landing Band Shell. This free, family-friendly event starts at 5 p.m. and will conclude with a spectacular high-tech drone and fireworks show over Lake Woodlands, presented by Woodforest National Bank and Waste Connections.
