Green Your Halloween
Are you carving a jack-o-lantern for Halloween? Be sure to save it and join us for our third annual Pumpkin Smash on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Sterling Ridge Park and Ride! This free and fun event provides a unique opportunity for residents to dispose of their Halloween pumpkins, whether they’re carved, painted or whole. From catapulting your pumpkin to smashing it with a bat or seeing it launch from a 50-foot drop, there is no shortage of fun and safe ways to compost your pumpkin with The Woodlands Township.
 Join the Month-Long Litter Cleanup
Gather your friends, family and coworkers to join us this fall for GreenUp Fall Sweep, a self-guided volunteer opportunity that continues through October 31, 2024. Last year, more than 10,000 volunteers helped remove almost one million pounds of litter from Texas pathways, waterways and green spaces during Keep Texas Beautiful’s Fall Sweep. We are proud to contribute to keeping our state clean and beautiful and would love your help! Site suggestions and supplies can be provided to volunteers upon request.
Composting Class Season Kicks Off
As the weather cools, now is the perfect time to start composting! Learn from Montgomery County Master Gardeners how to turn kitchen waste, yard trimmings and leaves into rich, handmade compost on November 2, 2024, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive. The class is outdoors and hands-on as you learn this simple, cost-effective way to compost in your own backyard. No registration required. Can’t make this class?
