 Candidate Filing Opens July 20
Candidate filing begins on July 20, 2024, for four (4) at-large positions on The Woodlands Township Board of Directors in the November 2024 election. The positions are designated as Positions 1, 2, 3, and 4. Each position is for a two-year term and is a volunteer, non-compensated role.
Candidates may file an application to appear on the ballot for one of the designated positions between July 20, 2024, and 5 p.m. on August 19, 2024. The deadline for filing a declaration of a write-in candidacy is 5 p.m. on August 23, 2024.
 Who Removes Storm Debris?
In The Woodlands, the removal of storm debris is the responsibility of the county. Residents must submit a Debris Removal Request form to either Harris or Montgomery County depending on their county of residence. It is a requirement to complete this form.
Debris Removal Guidelines

Debris must be separated. Construction debris such as fencing or roofing materials will not not collected and is the responsibility of the homeowner.

Place debris by the curb; please do not block storm drains or place debris on the street.

Do not burn debris. Burning storm debris within The Woodlands jurisdictional boundaries is against both state law and our covenants. This practice is extremely unsafe, especially given our numerous trees. We must take every precaution to prevent a potential wildfire. Let's work together to keep our community safe.
- Please be patient. This is a process that will take time.
Residents can also place smaller debris (green waste) at their curb for Waste Management as long as it adheres to the guidelines. Please note that if you notice that green waste that qualifies for weekly trash service has not been picked up by Waste Management, and has not been tagged as unaccepted, it is simply due to the sheer volume of green waste they are clearing. Waste Management will return and continue to remove curbside green waste that meets the specifications as quickly as possible. Waste Management will not clear large vegetative debris or debris that does not meet the guidelines.

 Disaster Assistance Available*
Texans who have disaster related needs due to Hurricane Beryl may be eligible for disaster assistance under FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program. FEMA disaster assistance is designed to address the essential needs of households by covering necessary expenses and serious needs that are uninsured or underinsured, supporting recovery efforts. Currently, residents living in Brazoria, Chambers, Galveston, Harris, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Orange, Polk, San Jacinto, Walker and Wharton counties may be eligible for disaster assistance.
*The Woodlands Township does not manage this disaster assistance program and any questions related to this program should go through FEMA directly.
 Board Meeting on July 24
The Woodlands Township Board of Directors will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 6 p.m. at 2801 Technology Forest Blvd. The meeting is open and the public is invited to attend.
