Hurricane Beryl Update: Monday, July 8, 2024, 6:00 a.m.
At 11 p.m. last night, Tropical Storm Beryl was upgraded to a hurricane with maximum winds around 80 mph. Beryl made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane at Matagorda, Texas, at 4 a.m. this morning.

Hurricane Beryl will continue to move northward today across southeast Texas and is expected to weaken slowly. Please be aware of the following conditions:
Rainfall: Expect amounts of 4 to 8 inches, with localized higher amounts. The heaviest rain will occur this morning and start to taper off around noon.
Winds: Wind gusts will be present throughout the morning. High winds could result in downed trees.
Tornado Conditions: Tornado conditions exist. Monitor local media for updates.
While essential and emergency personnel will continue to service the community, emergency vehicles will be unable to respond when the sustained wind speed is above 50 mph. This includes police, fire and emergency medical services (EMS).

Waste Management has postponed trash, recycling, and bulky item pick-up services by one day. There will be no pick-up today, Monday, July 8, 2024.

Monday pick-up will be collected on Tuesday.

Tuesday pick-up will be collected on Wednesday.

Wednesday pick-up will be collected on Thursday.

Thursday pick-up will be collected on Friday.

Friday pick-up will be collected on Saturday.
- Monitor power outages from Entergy and sign up for power alerts from CenterPoint.

Avoid traveling this morning if possible.

Do not drive through flood waters.

Do not walk, wade or play in flood waters.

Do not drive around barricades.

Be cautious as the storm moves out of the area. Only leave your home when it is safe to do so.
As the storm moves out of our area and travel becomes safe, any roadway that is blocked by fallen trees and debris is the county's responsibility. Both Montgomery County and Harris County operate within the Woodlands Township boundary lines. Each county has precincts that provide government services. Residents may contact the county directly to have storm debris removed. Do not call 911 to report downed trees unless it is an emergency.
