We will weather the storms together.
 Township Alerts
Staying informed during severe weather is crucial for residents to ensure their safety and well-being. By staying updated, individuals can make informed decisions about road conditions, power outages and more. Being aware of impending severe weather allows residents to take proactive measures to protect themselves, their families and their property from potential harm. Additionally, staying informed enables communities to coordinate emergency response efforts effectively, minimizing the impact of severe weather events and potentially saving lives.
County Resources
*Alerts and updates will be posted to the Township Alert Center including information about Township services and facility closures.
 Severe Weather
There are numerous ways to stay informed about local weather conditions. The National Weather Service (NWS) Houston-Galveston Region is a valuable resource, offering extensive information on their website and sharing alerts and updates via Facebook and Twitter. During severe weather events, the NWS provides weather briefings to emergency management coordinators, including those from the Township. Residents can also stay weather-aware by tuning into local media outlets.
 Road Conditions
Residents can monitor road conditions through online resources provided by Montgomery County and Houston TranStar. Montgomery County Live is an interactive online map that identifies road closures throughout the region and Houston TranStar provides a similar map for residents in Harris County. These maps enable residents to plan their routes effectively and stay informed about any potential disruptions due to road closures or adverse weather conditions.
 Power Outages
Severe weather events often lead to power outages due to various factors such as strong winds, lightning strikes or falling trees. Both Entergy and CenterPoint provide online power outage trackers. These trackers offer real-time updates on the status of outages, allowing residents to stay informed and plan accordingly during adverse weather conditions.
 Flooding
Flashing flooding can quickly flood area roadways. During a flash flood warning, please prioritize safety, refraining from driving through floodwaters and adhering to the advice: "Turn around, don't drown."
The San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) will release water from the Lake Conroe dam as a result of significant rain fall, which is needed to gradually lower the reservoir level back to the conservation pool of 201 feet above mean sea level (msl). These releases may lead to flooding various areas throughout the region and may even persist after the storm passes.
Flood insurance is crucial for safeguarding your home and belongings against the devastating financial impact of flood damage. Acting now to secure coverage before hurricane season is imperative, as it typically takes a month for flood insurance policies to go into effect, ensuring you're adequately protected when storms strike.

 Trash and Recycling Services
During heavy rain and flood conditions, trash and recycling services may be impacted due to safety concerns and accessibility issues. Waste Management (WM) crews will work diligently to safely provide service to our residents. However, residents in these areas that experience flooding, from the result of rain fall, may experience delays in service. During severe weather events residents are advised to secure their carts and bulk items in a safe area until winds die down and floodwaters recede.
To report a missed pickup, service issue, schedule a cart repair/replacement or schedule a bulk trash pickup, please contact Waste Management at 1-800-800-5804 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you would like to report an issue after hours or on the weekend, please email Waste Management at cssatex@wm.com and include your name, street address and service day. WM will respond the following business day. For issues that have not been resolved through Waste Management customer service, please contact the Township's Resident Care Center by calling 281-210-3800.
The Woodlands Express and Town Center Trolley
The Woodlands Express Park and Ride bus system implements real-time weather monitoring to assess conditions and determine if additional runs are necessary, ensuring commuter safety and convenience. In instances of severe weather, such as storms or flooding, the Town Center Trolley may suspend operations to prioritize passenger safety and minimize risks associated with travel.
 School Districts
Potential school closures can occur due to severe weather events. Factors such as heavy rain, flooded roads or wide spread power outages may prompt authorities to close schools in the interest of student and staff safety. These closures aim to prevent accidents and ensure that students and staff can remain secure at home until conditions improve.
