Lake Waco Wetlands Night Hikes
Night hikes are back at the Lake Waco Wetlands! Join Cameron Park Zoo staff for a guided evening adventure on April 17, May 8, and May 22 from 7 to 8 p.m. Learn about the fascinating plants and animals that come to life after dark, and experience the wetlands in a whole new way.
These hikes are free, open to everyone, and no registration is required. Remember to wear comfortable shoes, dress for the weather, and bring water and a flashlight.
A Mammoth Spring Kick-Off
Celebrate the arrival of spring at Waco Mammoth National Monument on April 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a time of discovery and family-friendly fun. This exciting kickoff event will feature 10 interactive exhibitors, sweet treats, and engaging activities for all ages.
Visitors can bring their finds to the Fossil ID Tent and enjoy a scavenger hunt or story time with park staff. Additional highlights include an Audubon bird walk, Paleoteria, and a guided nature walk through the park.
Join us for a day of exploration, learning, and outdoor adventure as we welcome the spring season at the monument.
Free Microchip & Vaccination Event
Join Pet Circle Waco from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, April 19 at Kendrick Park, 4011 Bagby Avenue, for a Microchip and Pet Vaccination Event — while supplies last. Bring your proof of residence.
- Free microchips for all Waco and McLennan County residents
- Free rabies vaccine for all Waco residents for animals that are already spayed/neutered (otherwise the rabies vaccine is $10)
- Free DAPP (Distemper Adenovirus Parvo Parainfluenza) vaccination for all Waco and McLennan County residents
- $10 rabies vaccine if you live in McLennan County but outside of Waco city limits
5th Annual Community Opportunity Event
The 5th Annual Community Opportunity Event (COE) is back at Dewey Park & Community Center on Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Created by the Waco Police Department, the COE connects youth, teens, and young adults with valuable resources and opportunities. Attendees can access:
- Job opportunities & mentoring programs
- Mental & physical health resources
- GED and education pathways
- Scholarships and grant opportunities
Policing our community is not just about enforcing laws. It’s about building relationships. The COE is a chance for us to come together as partners and help bridge gaps in our community. Bring your family and join us. We hope to see you there!
Meet the Author: Boom Town Book Signing Event at Texas Ranger Museum
Join us for a book signing event at the Texas Ranger Museum with historian Joe Pappalardo as he shares his new book, "Boom Town: The True Story of the Wickedest Town in Texas." The Meet the Author event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 25 with a short Q&A with Mr. Pappalardo at 2 p.m. in the Hall of Fame.
Come See What's Taking Shape in Waco's Downtown
The Waco Downtown Redevelopment Project is a community-driven effort to transform more than 100 acres along the Brazos River into a destination filled with amenities made for you. This 12-to-20-year project begins with the Barron's Branch District, featuring a new 30-acre signature park.
Join us from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28 in the lobby outside the Waco Convention Center Bosque Theatre. The best version of Waco is the one that we build together, so we welcome you to attend the come-and-go open house event to see the latest project updates and talk directly with the team.
Brazos Nights Brings the Heat with Grupo Secretto and Ruben Ramos
The May 1 Brazos Nights lineup is heating up! We’re excited to welcome Texas-based norteño band Grupo Secretto as the evening headliner. The event opens at 6 p.m., with music starting at 7:30 p.m. from Ruben Ramos and The Mexican Revolution.
