 The Brook Oaks Neighborhood Association hosted a luncheon on February 12, at the Dewey Community Center. The purpose of the luncheon was to celebrate and commemorate the 100 year celebration of Black History Month and to acknowledge the contributions legacy, and culture of African Americans in our community.
The Brook Oaks Neighborhood Association was awarded the 2026 Neighborhood Grant to assist with the funding of the of the luncheon.
 You're invited to Dewey Community Center (925 N. 9th St.) on February 12-27 for a mini museum experience celebrating 100 years of Black History Month and showcasing the great achievements and contributions of African Americans throughout our nation’s history. Explore stories of trailblazers, cultural icons, and movements that have left a lasting impact.
The free exhibit will be open to the public during regular center hours, with some exceptions.
Monday - Thursday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. (museum closed 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.) Friday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (museum closed after 3 p.m.) Saturday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 Join the City of Waco for a free community educational seminar and workshop designed to empower you with the knowledge and tools to protect your property for generations to come. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, February 21 at East Waco Community Connect, 1000 East Waco Drive.
 The City of Waco is currently developing its 2026 Annual Action Plan to improve housing options and encourage community development in the City. This plan determines how the City of Waco spends federal funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME).
Your input is essential to help us focus our efforts and the limited resources we have on the programs and services that are truly important and needed in our community and neighborhoods.
