 The City of Waco will hold its next City Council general election on Saturday, May 2 for the mayor and the seats representing districts one and three. The application for a place on the ballot will be open from Wednesday, January 14 to 5 p.m. on Friday, February 13.
Candidate packets, applications, and eligibility requirements are available on our website or in person at City Hall (300 Austin Ave.)
 Ready for a fun, behind-the-scenes look at how your city runs? Sign up for Waco City Academy! The free ten-session class features presentations and activities from most City of Waco departments. You could find yourself filming a city PSA, taking a seat in the official council chambers, interacting with real police equipment, or even feeding a giraffe.
Applications are open January 16 through February 16. Seats are limited and participants are selected first applied, first enrolled.

 The City of Waco is investing in the community with the Corridor Beautification Program! This matching grant helps business owners enhance the visual appeal of their property on certain corridors along portions of Waco Drive, La Salle Ave., 18th/19th Streets, and 25th Street.

 Are you interested in experiencing what it's like to work as a police officer at the Waco Police Department? Consider joining the next class of Citizens Police Academy. This is a free 12-week class open to those 18 years and older with nothing higher than a Class C misdemeanor on their record.
- Applications are due on Friday, January 23.
- The Academy will begin on January 29, and will be held on Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m.

 City of Waco offices will be closed on Monday, January 19 for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Residents with a Monday trash collection day will have their gray waste carts and blue recycling carts collected later on Wednesday, January 21.
