You may have noticed a slight change in taste or smell in your water this past week. The City of Waco is performing routine maintenance on our water system through Monday, November 17. Your water is still safe to drink and use!
We temporarily changed the disinfectant in your water from chloramine to free chlorine. This is a normal and widely used process that helps remove organic buildup in pipes caused by things like warm weather and water sitting in the system. These changes are temporary and will go back to normal once the process is complete.

Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2. Move your clocks back one hour! This is also a great time to change the smoke alarm batteries in your homes and test them. About two-thirds of residential fire deaths occur in homes with no or non-working smoke alarm.
In Waco, even our utility boxes have art! 11 metal boxes down West Waco Drive have been turned into art displays by local artists! The street-side splash of color is made possible by the City of Waco Beatification, Arts & Culture program with support from Creative Waco and the Texas Department of Transportation to celebrate local artists and their artwork.
Each artist was compensated $1,000 for their work. Thank you to all the artists who created such beautiful designs!
The City of Waco and Creative Waco will be accepting a second round of proposals starting November 1. Check out the map on our website to meet the artists, learn about their vision, and find out how you can submit your design.
Say NO to drugs! Yeah, it’s that easy! Last week during Red Ribbon Week, the Waco Police Department visited six area schools teaching students the importance of making good choices!
