 City of Waco City Manager Bradley Ford has announced his decision to resign from his role, effective February 28, 2026. Ford will remain in his position through the transition period to provide stability and support as the City Council begins the process of identifying his successor.
“This was not an easy decision, but it is the right one for me and my family,” said Ford. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of Waco and to work alongside such talented and dedicated city employees. Over the next months, I remain committed to supporting the Council, our staff, and our community as we continue moving Waco forward.”

Both parking lots at the center (near Doris Miller Park) are closed until further notice as construction begins on a new themed playground. The new playground will coincide with the new center offering programs for all ages geared toward science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). From vision to reality! Girl Scout Troops #400 and #11177 dreamed up a mural that captured the beauty of day and night at the Lake Waco Wetlands while also highlighting the seven principles of Leave No Trace. Thank you to local artists Monica with Painterly Designs and Violet Litton for helping the girls bring the final design to life on the Wetlands' pipe play structure.
Lake Waco Wetlands is open to the public with beautiful trails perfect for birdwatching, photography, or a peaceful walk outdoors.
