September is National Preparedness Month, and there's no better time to take simple, effective steps toward being ready for emergencies. This year, we're encouraging everyone to "Do 1 Thing" to help build emergency preparedness into their lives, one small step at a time.
Pick your first "thing" this month!
- Register for emergency alerts in McLennan County at alertwaco.com.
- Store at least one gallon of water per person per day for three days.
- Make an emergency communication plan.
- Identify safe places to take cover during severe weather, both at home and at work.
- Safely store copies of important documents.
Make a difference and join your neighborhood association! The City of Waco wants to hear from you — the people who know their neighborhood the best! Organizing as an association gives you the platform to discuss your concerns, find solutions, collaborate with your city government, and meet your neighbors.
