 Neighborhood Engagement closed out the busy month of July by attending the Brook Oaks Neighborhood Association Meeting. Afterwards, the officers and guests took photos on the newly installed benches placed at the entrance of the Dewey Community Center. The benches were made possible by the Brook Oaks Neighborhood Association’s grant application, and funded by the 2025 City of Waco Neighborhood Grant Program.
 The United States Naval Academy's STEM Kids Camp returns to Doris Miller Community Center on August 5-6.
Spend the day exploring rocketry, robotics, and real-world engineering with fun and interactive STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) activities. Camp participation is free, and lunch is provided. Registration is required.
Camp will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the dates below:

Construction on Fire Station #4 is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2027 and will increase fire protection the residents of the City of Waco.
 Waco Transit System is ready to help you celebrate tax–free weekend by offering "Free Fare Day"!
This allows passengers to enjoy unlimited FREE rides on all fixed–route buses on Saturday, August 9th!
Riders can track their bus in real–time by downloading the free Ride Systems app on their smartphones and selecting “Waco Transit” as their agency.
 National Night Out is set to take place Tuesday, October 7th! National Night Out (NNO) is designed to allow neighbors to join together and present a unified force in the fight against crime in the community by hosting or attending block parties, group parties, or your Neighborhood Association meetings. Parties can include games, decorations, food, & drinks.
Register your neighborhood for a block party and receive a visit from Waco PD and other public safety agencies.
The last day to register is Monday, September 29th. A limited number of supplies (while they last) can be provided to registered neighborhoods.
