 The 5th Annual Back to School Bash is being held July 26, 2025, from 10 AM - 2 PM at the Waco Convention Center.
The Back to School Bash provides free services to get local students ready for the start of the school year. The Waco Police Department will give away free clear backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, immunizations and so much more before the new school year begins.
This event is fun for the whole family, and we hope to see you there!
Backpacks and school supplies are available while supplies last. Haircuts will be provided for kids 5-17 and will be upon availability until 12:30 p.m.

The City of Waco and partner Hunt Development Group are hosting a public information session from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29 in the Bosque Theater Lobby at the Waco Convention Center (100 Washington Ave), to share the plans for revitalizing over 100 acres along the Brazos River. This ambitious 12 to 20-year project will bring new amenities, businesses, and experiences designed to embrace both residents and visitors.
 The City of Waco and Transformation Waco are proud to launch a new pilot class series in partnership with Senior Planet, offering engaging, tech-focused workshops for adults 60 and older. Hosted by the Bledsoe-Miller STEAM Center at the East Waco Library, these sessions will empower seniors to connect, learn, and thrive in today's digital world. Join us for this exciting opportunity to explore new skills and stay connected!
 The United States Naval Academy's STEM Kids Camp returns to Doris Miller Community Center on August 5-6.
Spend the day exploring rocketry, robotics, and real-world engineering with fun and interactive STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) activities. Camp participation is free, and lunch is provided. Registration is required.
Camp will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the dates below:
- Aug. 5th: 3rd & 4th Graders
- Aug. 6th: 5th & 6th Graders
 Join the City of Waco at 10:00 am on August 7th at 801 La Salle Ave. (between 8th Street and 9th Street) as we break ground on a new Fire Station!
Construction on Fire Station #4 is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2027 and will increase fire protection the residents of the City of Waco.
