Happy National Asian American and South Pacific Islander Month!
AAPI Heritage Month is celebrated in the U.S in May to recognize the contributions of Asian Americans and South Pacific Islanders to our country's history, culture, and society. Join us in recognizing, celebrating, and uplifting our AAPI communities here in Waco!
AAPI Heritage Month was established in 1978 by Congress to honor the first Japanese immigrants who arrived in the U.S. on May 7, 1843. The celebration was later expanded to a month-long observance in 1990 by President George H. W. Bush to include the diverse cultures of all Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
