In the City of Waco organization, women lead the departments of Animal Services, City Secretary's Office, Communications & Marketing, Customer Experience, Health, Human Resources, Legal, Neighborhood Engagement, and Police.
In addition to the numerous women throughout the city organization providing vital city services to our residents, the positions of Deputy City Manager, Assistant City Manager and Chief of Staff are held by women.
This month, we honor women’s contributions to society and culture in celebration of our City of Waco staff helping us move forward together and contribute to a brighter Waco!
Saturday, March 8 is the curbside district cleanup event for District Two! If you live in District Two, all you need to do is place your bulky waste or yard waste at your curb before 7 a.m., and our crews will collect it for you.
What If I Missed the District Cleanup?
This is the last District Cleanup event of the year. However, City of Waco utility customers can still request a bulky waste pickup anytime throughout the year. To request a pickup:
Daylight Savings Time in Texas starts at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 9. Move your clocks forward one hour.
The Waco Fire Department also reminds residents this is a great time to change the smoke alarm batteries in your homes and to test them. About two-thirds of residential fire deaths occur in homes with no smoke alarms or non–working smoke alarms.
Through the Home Fire Campaign, Waco Fire, in partnership with the American Red Cross, offers free smoke alarm installation and fire safety education.
City of Waco Housing & Community Development invites qualified organizations to submit applications to receive federal funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME). Applications will be accepted from March 4 through April 4, 2025.
The City of Waco receives funding from two federal grant programs — CDBG and HOME. Both support several programs and activities that benefit our residents. CDBG-funded activities must benefit low- and moderate-income residents, eliminate slum or blight, and/or meet an urgent community need. HOME funded activities must provide affordable housing to low- and moderate income households.
The Waco Fire Department invites you to the grand opening of the Fire Station #15. Join us for the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 20 at 10905 Panther Way (near the Ritchie Road water tower). Enjoy refreshments, a fire engine push-in ceremony, and a special appearance by Sparky the Fire Dog as we celebrate this exciting event.
