The City of Waco invites you to a come-and-go meeting from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4 at Saint Jerome Catholic Church, 9820 Chapel Road. During this meeting, the City of Waco and Walker Partners (contracted partner) will provide information about the Chapel Road widening project, and residents will have an opportunity to ask questions you may have regarding your specific property.
The Chapel Road widening project will stretch from Ritchie Road to Meadow Mountain Drive. The roadway will become a five-lane section with sidewalks on each side. Construction will also feature improvements to the water, wastewater, and storm drain systems. The City has almost completed the design of the project and construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2025.
Once a railway, now a pathway! Join us on Thursday, March 6 for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the M-K-T Trail.
This rail-to-trail project transformed 1.2 miles of historic railway from Sherman Street to Gholson Road in East Waco into a lighted, 12-foot-wide concrete pedestrian pathway. The mixed-use trail follows a portion of the decommissioned Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad, providing a vital link between neighborhoods and the existing Brazos River trail system.
The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at the trailhead of Garrison Street and Faulkner Lane. We hope to see you there as we welcome this exciting addition to our city.
