Volunteers Needed: Victim Services

Did you know that the Victim Services Unit relies heavily on its volunteers during times of crisis?

The Waco Police Department is accepting applications for volunteers to provide assistance and support to victims of crime. The next academy is April 7th through April 16th, and classes are held from 6 pm to 9 pm at the Waco Police Department.

Polar Plunge

The Waco Police Department partners with Special Olympics Texas each year to raise money for local Special Olympics athletes! This year, the Polar Plunge will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, at Hawaiian Falls Waco, 900 Lake Shore Drive.

Come to cheer on your local Waco Police officers or take the plunge with us! If you'd like to take the plunge don't forget to register your team beforehand! You can also support the Waco Police Department in their plunge. year-round sports training and competition, health, and inclusion programs for local Special Olympics Athle

Construction Starting Soon

The Texas Department of Transportation is gearing up for a major four-year expansion project on Interstate 35. Construction is scheduled to begin this month and will focus on the stretch between 12th Street and Highway 6. The $234 million project will result in eight main lanes, continuous frontage roads with redesigned ramps, enhanced pedestrian and bicycle safety with new sidewalks, and rebuilt crossings with U-turn lanes. The Valley Mills Drive crossing will see the biggest change with the removal of the northbound flyover.

Share Your Input for Future Housing and Development Projects

The City of Waco is currently developing its 2025 Annual Action Plan to improve housing options and encourage community development in the City. This plan determines how the City of Waco spends federal funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME).

Your input is essential to help us focus our efforts and the limited resources we have on the programs and services that are truly important and needed in our community and neighborhoods. You can complete the survey online or pick up a copy at any of the four local libraries.
