Waco Downtown Farmers Market
SATURDAY MORNINGS, 9am-1pm, 500 Washington Ave. Only one more month at their current location, the Saturday Waco Downtown Farmers Market will be moving to 500 Bridge Street starting March 1st. They're looking for volunteer "Market Ambassadors" to help people with the transition (CLICK HERE if you're interested in helping).
Waco Friends of the Climate Styrofoam Recycling Drive
FEBRUARY 8, 9am-1pm, Corner of Valley Mills & Waco Dr. Waco Friends of the Climate will sponsor Drive-Thru Styrofoam Recycling, Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, 9am-1pm, in the parking lot at the corner of Valley Mills & Waco Drives, in front of Ocean Buffet. All forms of Styrofoam are accepted except peanuts. The material should be clean, and small particles placed in a bag. Please arrive early, as the free service is first-come, first-served.
Discovery Activity: Seed HeARTs
FEBRUARY 12-15, During open hours at Urban REAP, 1509 N 15th St. The Discovery Activity this month is Seed HeARTs! Come repurpose old seeds to create a valentine (or galentine!) for your loved ones. We will have a few different templates, plus supplies for your own creative creations. For every Seed HeART you make, you get a free packet of seeds! Our Discovery Activities are free and family-friendly DIY activities available the second week of every month. Supplies are available during our open hours, with staff available to answer questions as needed. Grab a beverage or paleta from one of our neighborhood shops and explore nature with us!

MPO Bike and Pedestrian Workgroup Meeting

Lunch with the Masters: Roses- Simplifying a Thorny Subject
FEBRUARY 19, noon-2pm, 7601 Steinbeck Bend Dr., RM 105 Two avid gardeners who have created beautiful gardens featuring gorgeous roses, Barbara Vance will talk to us about planting, care, and pruning roses; then Charlotte Lowe will discuss plants and alternatives for hiding or enhancing the area under and around the roses. Additionally, we will have Robert Cowell talking to us about keeping your gardening tools sharp, so bring your tools that need to be sharpened and he will be sharpening tools while we learn about roses. He will be charging for this service but is offering very reasonable rates. Be sure and bring your lunch or a snack to this free session
Sustainable Resource Practices Advisory Board Meeting

Waco Friends of the Climate Monthly Meeting
FEBRUARY 25, 6pm. South Waco Library, 2737 S. 18th Street Waco Friends of the Climate will hold a meeting, 6pm, Tues. Feb 25, in the meeting room of the South Waco Library, 2737 S. 18th St., Waco. Included is screening of the documentary "Made in Europe," which explains the strategy of European countries to compete with cheaper Chinese EVs, through advanced local mining of critical minerals, extreme manufacture efficiency with robotics, and consideration of the rights of the indigenous Sami people. Upcoming volunteer opportunities will be discussed. Vegan refreshments will be available. All are welcome and everything is free.
 Also, coming up in honor of Earth Day, will sponsor a Carbon Sink (Tree Seedling) Giveaway, 9am-1pm, Sat., April 26, at the Waco Downtown Farmers Market, 500 Washington Ave., Waco. Visitors may choose a green ash (deciduous) or a live oak (evergreen) seedling. Both are Texas natives, which are recommended for McLennan County, and prosper in dry conditions.
