 The Waco City Council will review a proposed amendment to the City of Waco's fence ordinance at their meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 21. If approved, the amendment will go into effect immediately. This amendment will streamline existing fence regulations, reduce public safety concerns, and reduce the need for variance requests.
Key Changes

Residential front yard fences can be up to six feet in height if the top two feet are at least 50 percent transparent.

Residential rear and side yard fences can be up to eight feet in height if it is adjacent to an alley or commercial property.

To account for grade deviations, fences can be be up to eight feet in height if the grade adjacent to the fence is lower than the foundation of the house.

Commercial and industrial properties can continue constructing a fence up to eight feet in height.

 The City of Waco has released a new guide on how to get permits and inspections to install residential standby generators. It outlines the necessary permits, the materials required for a plan review and inspections, and the key items plan reviewers and inspectors will check during the process.
Key considerations include strict adherence to city noise ordinances, comprehensive permit applications with detailed site plans, electrical and plumbing diagrams, and manufacturer's installation instructions. The installation process will require multiple inspections, including underground ditch, rough-in, and final inspections. Safety is paramount, with a strong emphasis on grounding, adequate working space, and secure service equipment barriers.

Electrolit Constructing a $400 Manufacturing Facility in Waco
 Electrolit, a leading hydration beverage brand, is investing $400 million to build a new manufacturing facility in Waco — the company's first U.S. production location. The 600,000-square-foot facility will be located in Texas Central Park and is expected to open in early 2026.
The project will generate significant economic impact for Waco and McLennan County with over 200 jobs for skilled professionals and technicians. Attracting Electrolit aligns with the City of Waco's economic development goals to bring quality jobs, investment, and a commitment to our community.
 Hyatt Place in Downtown Waco is Taking Shape
 Construction is underway for the new Hyatt Place hotel in Downtown Waco. Located at the corner of Third Street and Mary Avenue, the five-story, 113-room hotel is being developed by RL Hospitality and built by Vibrant Services from Frisco, TX.
The $20 million project is joining the surge in lodging construction around Waco and will be the second location in town for the brand. The new Hyatt Place will offer a range of amenities including a pool and spa, a restaurant, in-house catering services, boardrooms, and a conference room. Development plans also include a space for a retail or venue location.
