Cameron Park Zoo celebrated the grand opening of the new Corwin, Estes, and Jaynes Education Center and the Carol Schmidhauser Veterinary Hospital on Friday, October 25. The community came together for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and guided tours of the state-of-the-art facilities.
The City of Waco and Cameron Park Zoo extend a sincere thank you to the Zoological & Botanical Society, McLennan County, and all the individual donors whose generous support made these state-of-the-art facilities possible. Thank you to all the residents, visitors, and community partners who joined us at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Together, both facilities will offer a new hub for public education and professional development in animal care for years to come.
On the morning of October 22, a Water Utility Services employee was working about 30 feet underground when he slipped and fell while doing maintenance at the Riverside Water Treatment Plant.
Firefighters with the Technical Rescue Team performed a “confined space rescue” involving specialized equipment, including atmospheric monitoring for safety. He was safely removed and transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
We are so thankful for the safety of our employee and the patience he had to remain calm and wait for a safe extraction.
Last week, the Waco community came together for the traditional push-in ceremonies to celebrate the dedication of new fire engines at Stations 5 and 12. Kids and neighbors joined Sparky and Waco firefighters to push the new engines into their stations. The timely replacement of engines 5 and 12 is essential for providing vital fire protection services to the Waco community.
Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for the fun tradition!
