Fall Fossil Festival

You're invited to the Waco Mammoth National Monument for the annual Fall Fossil Festival! Enjoy local exhibitors, live camels, pumpkin decorating, fossil identification, a mock dig pit experience and more! Admission to the event is free. Self-guided tours of the fossil quarry in the Dig Shelter will be open all day (fee applies).

Second Annual Literary Haunted House

Drive-Thru Trick-or-Treat Event

Take a sweet ride through South Waco Park for a drive-thru trick-or-treat event! The event will take place at the South Waco Community Center parking lot. Please remain in your cars upon arrival, and staff will bring you pre-packaged treat bags. Presented by the South Waco Community Center and City of Waco Athletics Division.

  Cameron Park Zoo Education Center & Veterinary Hospital Grand Opening
 Join us at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 25 at Cameron Park Zoo for the grand opening of the Corwin, Estes, and Jaynes Education Center and of the Carol Schmidhauser Veterinary Hospital. The event will feature a brief program, refreshments, and facility tours.
The Corwin, Estes, and Jaynes Education Center will feature classrooms, offices, event rental spaces, and technology that will enable worldwide remote learning experiences. The adjoined Carol Schmidhauser Veterinary Hospital will house surgical suites, pharmaceutical storage, and environmentally controlled holding spaces for animals under care or observation.
 On Thursday, October 3, Waco Mayor Jim Holmes presented the annual State of the City Address hosted by the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce. Mayor Holmes updated community leaders and residents on the City of Waco’s recent accomplishments and plans for the upcoming year, such as the riverfront project, downtown redevelopment, and the expansion of city services as Waco continues to grow
 Since February 2024, almost 50 tons of glass have been diverted from the landfill with the purple glass recycling bins.
These eye-catching purple bins can be found downtown at Heritage Square, at East Waco Library, in MCC's Parking Lot S, and at Goodwill Headquarters on New Road! The glass recycling program allows residents, businesses, and visitors to recycle glass at no additional cost 24/7.
To use the bins, bring your glass bottles and jars and toss them in the containers. Only glass goes in the bins. Please no bags or boxes.
