Reminder! As of July 1, both Waco residents and businesses are limited to outdoor watering three days per week.
- Odd numbered addresses: Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday
- Even numbered addresses: Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday
- No outdoor watering on Fridays
- No outdoor watering between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
- Hand watering is allowed on all days
Please make sure your crew is aware of which days they can water. Together, we can embrace water conservation and ensure we have enough water for our region, because in Texas, the next drought could be right around the corner!
New Sod Installation
If you are planning on installing new sod in a new development, the City of Waco offers a 60-day watering variance. The variance allows you to water any day, so that new sod can receive consistent moisture to establish strong roots and prevent drying out.
The City of Waco is now implementing pre-construction meetings for larger projects or those with significant community or economic development impact. Our goal with these meetings is to streamline the development process, set our expectations, and open an opportunity for developers, property owners, or contractors to ask questions.
What to Expect:
- Discuss potential code compliance issues that could prolong a project.
- Meet the City of Waco trade inspectors.
- Meet partners from other City of Waco departments that may be in involved in the project.
The City of Waco will notify developers, property owners, or contractors if their project requires a pre-construction meeting. However, developers may also request a meeting. Meetings will be held in the conference room in the Dr. Mae Jackson Development Center (401 Franklin Ave.), but on-site meetings are available upon request.
In May, Waco City Council adopted the 25th Street Corridor Implementation Plan. The plan will guide our strategy to address parking, infrastructure, sidewalks, street lighting, traffic calming, and a shared corridor identity. The corridor is generally described as 25th Street, but it also includes neighboring properties on 26th Street from Franklin Avenue to Maple Street.
Thank you to our Stakeholder Committee, our partners Grassroots Community Development and the Cen-Tex Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and our Consultant Team, Kimley-Horn, for their assistance!
