Total Solar Eclipse Delivered an Unforgettable Weekend Experience
Waco transformed into the prime solar eclipse celebration last week. The "Live from Waco" event series offered residents and visitors a jam-packed itinerary filled with music, arts, education, and community spirit.
On April 8, over 14,000 people gathered at McLane Stadium's Touchdown Alley leading up to the 4 minutes and 13 seconds of totality. Guests from across the world enjoyed access to telescopes, educational science activities, food trucks, and more at the Eclipse Over Texas 2024: Live from Waco event!
Not sure what to do with your solar eclipse glasses now that the event is over? You can drop them off at the Waco Convention Center or any of the four Waco-McLennan County Library locations. The glasses will be donated to Astronomers without Borders for future eclipses in areas that cannot afford to purchase them.
Thank you, Waco, for helping us keep the eclipse glasses out of the landfill!

The animal shelter currently needs tough toys, puppy food, puppy or kitten formula, four-foot leashes, and treats.
The shelter is also in high need of rugged and durable shelter pet beds!
