Discovery Activity: Seed HeARTs!
FEBRUARY 8-10, During open hours at Urban REAP Come repurpose old seeds to create a valentine (or galentine!) for your loved ones. We will have a few different templates, plus supplies for your own creative creations. For every Seed HeART you make, you get a free packet of seeds! Discovery Activities are free and family-friendly DIY activities available the second week of every month. Supplies are available during our open hours, with staff available to answer questions as needed. Grab a beverage or paleta from one of our neighborhood shops and explore nature with us!
Community Workshop: Managing Pests in the Garden
FEBRUARY 10, 11am-12pm at Urban REAP Come learn from Agronomist Mark Keely on how to reduce pests in our gardens. We will talk about Integrated Pest Management, the holistic approach to keeping our gardens safe, and look at some examples at the Urban REAP greenhouse! Click here to register.
Sustainable Resource Practices Advisory Board Meeting

Lunch with the Masters
FEBRUARY 21, Noon-2:00pm, 7601 Steinbeck Bend Rd. Opening their 2024 Lunch with the Masters Series will be "Gardening 101 in Central Texas" with Jay White, publisher of Texas Gardener Magazine. Jay will be speaking about what you need to be doing in the garden and with your landscaping right now to get ready for a beautiful yard and bountiful harvest this year. Additionally, you will hear from McLennan County Master Gardener Richard Siegel about getting your tools ready to make life easier as you work in your yard and garden.
Texas Stream Team: Citizen Scientist Training
FEBRUARY 24, 10am-1pm, The Mayborn Museum Become a certified citizen scientist to help test water quality in local waterways. Citizen scientists monitor a wide variety of habitats from rivers, creeks, ponds, and lakes to bays, bayous, and estuaries. Citizen scientists are asked to make a commitment to monitor at least one site monthly for at least one year. Monitoring takes approximately one to two hours depending on the time spent traveling to the site. Register Here.
Waco Friends of the Climate Monthly Meeting
FEBRUARY 27, 6pm, South Waco Library Waco Friends of the Climate will hold a meeting Tuesday, Feb 27, 6:00pm, at the South Waco Library, 2737 S. 18th St., Waco. The program "Banks, Credit Cards, and the Climate Crisis" will detail the importance of personal bank and card choices to the climate crisis, provide resources for selecting green alternatives, and assist in switching accounts.
