Thank You for an Incredible Year, Waco!
Huge thanks to our residents, City employees, and the leadership of our Waco City Council for a fantastic year. We were able to accomplish so much including the Suspension Bridge renovation, the grand opening of the Doris Miller Community Center, the unveiling of the Waco Airport renovation, and so much more! That's on top of all the fun we had with you at Waco Wonderland, Fourth on the Brazos, and the Brazos Nights Concert series. We wish you a joyous New Year filled with prosperity, unity, and community.
Offices Closed
As a friendly reminder, City offices will be closed on Monday, January 1 to allow our hardworking staff to celebrate the New Year with their loved ones.
Residents with a Monday trash collection day will have their gray waste carts and green yard waste carts collected later on Wednesday, January 3. For more info on other City of Waco services and departments, click the button below.

 Recycle your Live Christmas Tree
Join us from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 6 for the Chipping of the Green event! Bring your live Christmas tree to be mulched for FREE by the Keep Waco Beautiful team in Heritage Square in Downtown Waco! This Christmas tree mulch can be utilized in your yard and garden, and it helps keep trees from ending up in the landfill. This event is open to the public, and no reservation is needed.
 Never Miss a Trash Day!
The 2024 trash and recycling calendar is now available online at waco-texas.com/solidwaste! Check your December water bill for a copy.
Download the Curbside Services App
After you download the app, you can set your personalized notifications for trash, recycle, and yard waste pick-up days. You'll also get notified when your collection day has been rescheduled, which is super helpful during the holidays!
Remember, storm drains connect directly to creeks, streams, rivers, and lakes. Blowing leaves and grass into the streets leads to serious issues like clogs and flooding.
What To Do with Your Leaves
- Mow your leaves and leave a light layer on your lawn.
- Bag your leaves in paper bags and leave them on the curb during your green waste collection day.
- Mulch your leaves with a lawn mower, and use the shredded leaves for composting, gardens, or flower beds.

The highest cause of fires in the winter season come from heating equipment. If you have a space heater or fireplace, keep anything that can burn three feet or more away from it. Remember, only plug one electrical appliance, like a space heater, into an outlet at a time.
As we prepare for temperatures to dip during the winter season, make sure you have your chimneys inspected before using them! Waco Fire Department responds to numerous calls because of clogged chimneys. Remember to have screens on your fireplaces, and never leave fires going when you're asleep.
