 Topping Out Ceremony
Parking Garage
On Friday, September 22, Austin Commercial hosted a topping out ceremony at the Baylor Foster Pavilion parking garage for their construction workers and for City of Waco officials. The topping out ceremony celebrates finishing the structural phase of the parking garage by placing the final beam.

Graphic Packaging
In April earlier this year, the City of Waco granted Graphic Packing International a $20 million building permit for a 175,000-square-foot warehouse and 640,000-square-foot mill at at 2601 Gateway Blvd. Construction is underway, and production is expected to start in 2026 employing 230 people.

Accessory Dwelling Units
New City Ordinance

City Council will be considering an ordinance change on Tuesday, October 17 to allow accessory dwelling units. Accessory dwelling units are smaller, independent residences in an existing stand-alone single-family lot. These ADUs offer alternative, more affordable housing opportunities.

City Ordinances & Design Standards

Public Works, Development Services and Parks and Recreation are working to update the City of Waco ordinances and design standards. These departments will present the proposed changes to City Council at the work session at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17 at the Waco Convention Center. After the City Council meeting, City staff will meet with industry stakeholders to get feedback. City Council meetings are open to the public and are also streamed online on MyWacoTV.com.
