Summertime is in full swing, Friends of the Parks! Stay hydrated and safe when enjoying the parks and trails! We're so excited to share all of our upcoming events with you. Parks Offices Closed July 4

The Parks offices will be closed Tuesday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday and will reopen with regular business hours on Wednesday, July 5.

Lindsey Park Celebration Details July 4

Join us at Lindsey Park on Tuesday as we celebrate Independence Day! ✨
🚘 Parking will be limited and not allowed on the soccer fields. Cars will be directed into designated parking areas by staff and officers.

We strongly encourage you to utilize the FREE transit rides to the park from the below locations. Starting at 6 p.m., Transit buses will be running every 10 to 15 minutes.

📍Tyler Junior College West Campus, 1530 S SW Loop 323

Treasures in Still Life at the Goodman July 1 - 29

Join us at the Goodman-LeGrand Museum for Treasures in Still Life between July 1-29 to view paintings and sketches by local artists!

Cooking for Life Class July 18

Cool off with Guest Chef Sheri Johnston, Owner of Cups and Saucers Catering!

The event is July 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person. Seating is limited and must be purchased in advance. To register or for more information, call (903) 531-1214.

Cultivating Calm Workshop July 22

The Glass Recreation Center along with the Smith County Gardeners, will be offering a one hour Cultivating Calm workshop to teach houseplant basic care, and explore how plants can improve stress and health.

Save the Date: School is Cool Aug. 3

The 10th Annual #SchoolisCool event will take place as an in-person event at the W.T. Brookshire Conference Center and Rose Garden Center on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023.

Thanks to the continued partnership between the City of Tyler, Tyler Area Business Education Council, and Tyler Independent School District this event will once again offer backpacks and other essential services to school-age children.

Immunizations will be provided during the 2023 School is Cool event.

With Insurance: To use insurance, you must contact the Northeast Texas Public Health District PRIOR to the event for insurance verification and coverage by calling (903) 510-5604.
Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Health Care and Cigna are accepted.

Without Insurance: $10 administration fee per vaccine, cash or check only (#500 or greater).
Medicaid/CHIP - please bring cards at the time of service.

We are looking for licensed volunteers to help provide free haircuts to children at School is Cool this year!

Glass Recreation Center

American Karate on Tuesdays!

Ages 5 to 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Ages 13 and up from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $75 for 10 weeks.

Fun Forest Pool

Those 55 and better can enjoy private senior swim time at Fun Forest Pool this summer every Friday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Admission is free!

Water Safety Classes will be held biweekly on Thursdays starting June 15 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. inside Fun Forest Pool.

We are partnering with Texas Department of State Health Services to teach children about water safety in different environments, such as pools, waterparks, oceans, lakes and rivers. It also teaches youth about water hazards around the home and neighborhood and covers sun safety, boating safety and much more.
