City accepts Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
 Chief Financial Officer Keidric Trimble and Controller Lauren Justice present the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award to City Council on Wednesday, June 14 at City Hall.
The City of Tyler has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal year 2022-2023 budget document. This is the 16th consecutive year that the City of Tyler's budget document has received this special recognition.
The award was granted by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). It was presented to the Mayor and Council during the Wednesday, June 14, City Council meeting.
City takes action to address alcohol-related incidents at Lake Tyler
The Tyler City Council voted on Wednesday, June 14, to adopt new regulations governing Lake Tyler and Lake Tyler East. The new regulations aim to address problems associated with the use and consumption of alcohol in certain public areas of the Lake, particularly public parking lots and public parking areas, public boat ramps, and City-owned properties within 15 feet.
Cities in Texas have the authority to regulate alcohol in City-owned buildings and on City-owned property. As the owner of the Lake, including Lake Waters and certain adjacent properties, the City Council's vote amended Tyler City Code Chapter 19.
City to prioritize traffic challenges using travel demand modeling of City streets
 Staci Lara, Glass Recreation Center's Recreation Program Supervisor accepted her certificate for 20 years of service with the City of Tyler.
The City Council approved a $493,411 engineering contract on Wednesday, June 14, with HDR Engineering, Inc. to complete a South Tyler Mobility Study. Through Travel Demand Modeling technology, the City will get a comprehensive look into transportation connectivity and how network improvements can help accommodate future growth while addressing existing issues.
The study will evaluate existing travel behavior patterns on City Streets, analyze the new Master Street Plan, and make recommendations on the prioritization of streets. It will also conduct route alignment evaluations and provide cost estimates. Further, an analysis of property access connectivity will be carried out along South Broadway Avenue, and City staff will conduct stakeholder engagement with property owners in the undeveloped areas.
Street reconstruction project approved for nine City streets, curbs, alleyways
On Wednesday, June 14, the City Council approved a $4,784,777.85 contract with Reynolds and Kay to revitalize nine severely deteriorated streets.
The Engineering Department evaluated pavement ratings and performed geotechnical investigations of the streets to determine the streets that require reconstruction.

The Tyler City Council meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m. in the City Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, 212 N. Bonner Ave.
