The Glass Recreation Center will be hosting a Valentine's Date Night Drive-Thru for children and their parents to enjoy! The event includes a Valentine-themed photo op, take-home arts and craft and goody bag.

Tickets will be $5 per child, no parent fee. Payments will be made at the door day of event. Register now at bit.ly/3o01JUS.

Goodman Museum Antique Quilt Display

Happening now! The Goodman-LeGrand Museum will host a special antique quilt display from Saturday, Jan. 30 to Saturday, Feb. 27. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The display includes a quilt from the 1830s and an 1880s quilt owned by the Goodman family. Many other quilts made from the 1850s to the 1930s will be on display throughout the home. Admission is free, but a suggested $2 donation per person will go toward the day-to-day operation of the museum. All donations are greatly appreciated.

Trees Committee hosts Annual Seedling Giveaway

Don't miss a chance to get some free seedlings to plant on your property! The Tyler Trees Committee is hosting our annual Seedling Giveaway on Saturday, Feb. 20 at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - South Tyler (8389 South Broadway).

90-Day Weight Loss Challenge

Glass Recreation Center's 30-day Weight Loss Challenge is open to all!

Must weight in by Feb. 5 and weigh out by May 5. Weigh in location at Glass Recreation Center, 501 W. 32nd St. Woman and Man to lose the most weight will be given a grand prize including a free year membership to Glass!

Arbor Day Success!

The 2021 Arbor Day two-day celebration hosted by Tyler Parks and Rec and the Tyler Trees Committee took place on Jan. 15 and 16. On Friday, home-school groups from Arrow’s Way Academy and King's Academy Christian School planted 18 trees at Emmett J. Scott Park. On Saturday, the event opened with the reading of the Arbor Day Proclamation by Mayor Don Warren. Volunteers then planted 31 trees around the Woldert Park Baseball field, playground and pond with the help of planting experts from the Tyler Trees Committee and Texas A&M Forestry Service.

We are thankful for all our hardworking volunteers and excited for our 49 new trees to grow and leave a lasting impact for generations to come.

Parks Scavenger Hunt Expanded

We launched a new QR code-based Scavenger Hunt Program in February of 2020 and the Scavenger Hunt has now been expanded and updated with 12 new clues hidden across Tyler area parks for people to find and complete.
