Learn about daily life at Mission Dolores and the hands-on skills friars used to survive, including basket weaving. Join site educator Amy for an interactive workshop where you’ll create your own round basket while exploring the history of mission life.

 The Most Dangerous Intersection in America
June 17, 12–1 p.m.
Bring your lunch to the Magoffin Home for a lecture exploring one of the most dangerous intersections in 19th-century America. With decades of teaching and research experience, Dr. Burnham offers a compelling look at this violent chapter of history.

The Soldier's Gamble
June 20, 1–4 p.m.
Step into Civil War–era Fort Lancaster and discover how soldiers passed the time on the Texas frontier through games of skill and chance. Visitors will learn the rules behind historic pastimes like checkers, dice, and early poker while gaining insight into daily life at the fort. Try your hand and see if luck is on your side!
