Sleep in a bank vault. Sip coffee beside brewing tanks. Wake up in a 19th-century parlor. Across Texas, historic buildings are being reimagined as hotels, inviting visitors to step inside the stories that shaped them. Which adventure will you choose?
It seems like almost overnight, wildflowers burst into bloom along roadsides and fields, reminding us to get outside and enjoy the season before the heat reaches its peak. Bright blues, intense reds, and nostalgic yellows magically return every spring—it's not just magic, but intention that was laid out decades ago.

Nominate a Historic Business
Founded in 1923 in Slaton, through the consolidation of two local bakeries, The Slaton Bakery has grown into one of the oldest bakeries in the state, remaining in the Wilson family for generations and eventually returning to its original location. Once a wholesale bread factory that introduced sliced hamburger and hot dog buns to Texas, it has since evolved into a beloved destination for classic baked goods. Recognized as a Texas Treasure Business in 2014, it continues to serve its community with a rich, enduring legacy.
More than 700 Texas businesses have been honored for their historic significance with a Texas Treasure Business Award. Nominate your longtime favorite today!
