• The Bullock Museum's Texas History Timeline provides an overview of the many chapters in Texas history, and their interactive map helps you locate historical events from your area.
• Sam Houston's birthday is March 2. This video tells his story.

Homework

• Preparing for Women's History Month in March? These historical markers tell stories of influential women through Texas' history.
• The Texas Women’s Hall of Fame, housed at Texas Woman’s University, features the biographies and photographs of the more than 100 pioneering women who have left their mark on our great state.
• Civic Learning Week is March 9-13. Check out these classroom activities and lessons.

Extra Credit

• This free webinar will explore how to make history captivating and engaging through comics and graphic novels.
• MY AMERICA is a nationwide youth-driven art and civic engagement campaign, and teachers can request kits for their students to participate in the creation of a football field-sized American flag.
• All Texans are encouraged to participate in the Texas America250 Reading Challenge, logging 2,500 minutes of reading, state parks visits, and/or service activities.

Field Trip

• You won't want to miss the Texas Independence Day Celebration at Washington-on-the-Brazos! The recently reopened after a $54 million reimagining and renovation.
• Over spring break, plan a visit to San Felipe de Austin or Kreische Brewery for a variety of family-friendly hands-on programs.
• Step back in time on the historic grounds of Presidio La Bahia to witness a reenactment of the Battle of Coleto Creek.
