In March of 1836, a new nation called "Texas" was born at Washington-on-the-Brazos. This put Washington County on the map as the Birthplace of Texas. Brenham and Washington County clearly have a long history with many fascinating stories to tell, some of which are being told for the very first time.

Join us for the unveiling of the recently renovated 1857 Tyler House on January 4, 2025. O. T. Tyler built the home in 1857 primarily for a boarding school for students of Salado College.
