Hispanic Heritage Month is underway (September 15-October 15), so our heritage travel experts have assembled a list of 10 under-the-radar heritage sites that span at least three centuries' worth of Hispanic history in Texas.
These distinctive sites range from a newly designated national landmark near El Paso that honors the complicated legacy of the U.S./Mexico Bracero Program to a vast sea of salt hiding in South Texas that was once harvested by Native Texans and Spanish explorers. The sites we've picked promise a truly unique exploration of Hispanic history in Texas.

Few events capture the heart and soul of Texans quite like the State Fair of Texas. For over a century, people have flocked to Fair Park in Dallas to experience the magic of this one-of-a-kind celebration. With its rich history, deep cultural significance, and festive pageantry, the Fair is more than just a collection of midway rides, corn dogs, and concerts—it’s a cherished annual tradition and a piece of Texas heritage.
