Public Comments for Proposed New Literary Works Lists

At the April 2026, State Board of Education (SBOE) meeting, the SBOE approved for first reading and filing authorization proposed new literary works lists for English Language Arts and Reading and Spanish Language Arts and Reading. The SBOE is scheduled to consider the proposed new literary works lists for second reading and final adoption at its June 2026 meeting.
The official public comment period for the proposed literary works lists is now open. To view the proposed new literary works lists and submit public comments, visit: https://tea.texas.gov/about-tea/laws-andrules/sboe-rules-tac/proposed-state-board-of-education-rules.
Please be sure to include the grade or course and the name of the literary work(s) for which you are providing public comment, if applicable. Public comments are shared with SBOE members each week during the public comment period.
