May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time for school communities across Texas to come together in support of mental health and wellness. Throughout the month, educators and students can engage in professional learning, prioritize wellness, share encouraging messages, and participate in activities that highlight the importance of mental health and overall well-being.
Attention to personal wellness is an important component of sustaining effective service to students. Individuals may choose to engage in self-care strategies that support their well-being, such as physical activity, restorative breaks, or personal interest. If immediate support is needed, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) to access trained counselors 24/7.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all school personnel for your leadership and commitment to fostering safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for Texas students. For additional tools and guidance, visit the TEA Mental Health and Wellness webpage and the Texas School Mental Health website.
The Texas Education Agency’s Student Supports Division, along with our Project AWARE Texas partners, will host the last of the webinar series this May to highlight resources and best practice strategies. This last session will be held from 11 am to 12:30 pm CST.

MHW Webinar Registration #4
The Texas Education Agency has completed an updated statewide student mental health plan that reflects the evolving needs across Texas.
The full plan has been posted to TEA’s website, allowing administrators, educators, families, community partners, and the public to easily review the updated goals, strategies, and implementation guidance.
TEA will provide opportunities for the state to learn more about the revised statewide plan for student mental health through webinars. These meetings will provide an opportunity to present the statewide plan and discuss key updates with the public. The meeting information will be shared on our School Mental Health Texas Website.
