Uncertified Teachers Dashboard

  • The Educator Data, Research and Strategy Division at the Texas Education Agency has updated the Uncertified Teachers Dashboard to include 2025-2026 academic year data. This dashboard presents statewide estimates on the number and proportion of uncertified teachers. This data is aggregated by School System, Region, School System Geographic Type, and Subject-Grade Level.

The Uncertified Teachers Dashboard presents multiple views to explore uncertified teaching across the state, including:

    • Uncertified Teachers Over Time: presenting statewide annual estimates of the number and proportion of uncertified teachers. This view also allows users to toggle between total counts and full-time equivalent (FTE) views for total and uncertified teachers.
    • Percentage of Teacher Workforce that is Uncertified: displaying longitudinal data on the percentage of the statewide teacher workforce that is uncertified.
    • Uncertified by Subject‑Grade Level: displaying total teacher counts and total FTEs, disaggregated by certification status and aggregated to assigned grade‑level bands and PEIMS subject areas.
    • Uncertified by School System: displaying teacher counts and total teacher FTEs, including uncertified counts, aggregated at the school system level.
    • Uncertified by Region: displaying teacher counts and total teacher FTEs, including uncertified counts, aggregated at the regional level.

Example: The following view presents a longitudinal view of uncertified teachers over time, displaying both total teachers and total uncertified teachers from 2020-2021 through 2025-2026.

  • Total teacher counts remained relatively stable across this period, ranging from approximately 349 thousand to 352 thousand teachers statewide.
