As we come to the close of another incredibly successful year, we want to pause and celebrate you. This important work could not be done without the dedication, expertise, and partnership of each of you. Thank you to our school system leaders, Educator Preparation Program partners, ESC technical assistance providers, and State Leads, for showing up day after day with commitment and purpose. Every child deserves a well-prepared teacher from day one—and because of your collective efforts, that vision is not just a goal, but a reality. TSS: Need to Know Now
Our end of year Paid Residencies survey launched this morning! School system grant contacts should have received a link to complete it this morning. We know many of you may not have received TSS grant funds since TCLAS Decision 5, but we are collecting data from you to understand long-term sustainability and inform decisions regarding program funding and improvements in the future. Our goal is to have 95% participation this year. If you did not receive a link or have questions about completing it, please email us at txstrategicstaffing@tea.texas.gov.

SFASU District Discovery Day
Stephen F. Austin State University hosted its “Meet the Districts” event on January 29th! Thirty-four districts attended, and SFA students had the opportunity to meet with districts that offer paid year-long residency and paid semester clinical teaching.

Discovery Day in West Texas
It’s recruitment season! This week’s highlights are from West Texas! West Texas A&M University hosted its inaugural District Discovery Showcase on February 24th. TSS 25-27 grant recipients, Floydada CISD, Seagraves ISD, and Tahoka ISD from Region 17 attended, as well as Canyon ISD from Region 16. Michelle Stuart and Erin Prickett (pictured here) support these regions. Kudos to WTAMU for this successful event and the 15 districts across Regions 11,14,16,17, & 18 who attended that made it an event to be repeated each year.

Region 13 Residency Tour
San Marcos CISD in ESC 13 hosted a residency learning tour last week. School districts, EPPs, and TA providers were able to observe residents in action and hear from a panel of residents, host teachers, and principals! SMCISD is in its 5th year of residency and partnership with Texas State University.

As many of you know, House Bill 2 has provided a monumental investment through the PREP Program Allotment to support teacher preparation and pipeline development. This work is informed, in part, by data collected by TEA’s Educator Data, Research, and Strategy (EDRS) team and presented through the Newly Certified and New Teacher Hires Dashboard. This resources provides a deeper understanding of the pathways into the teaching profession, highlighting how teacher preparation, certification routes, and hiring practices intersect across Texas public schools.
At TEA, we also recognize that the work you have done through Texas Strategic Staffing has made implementing residency programs supported by the PREP Program Allotment a lighter lift. To continue strengthening the connection between these two initiatives, we will share the latest PREP Program Allotment news and resources here.

PREP Program Allotment Guidebook: The PREP Program Allotment Guidebook is now live and available to download. The Guidebook has detailed implementation information regarding the PREP Program Allotment as a whole, and the PREP Grow Your Own, PREP Preservice Residency, and PREP Mentorship programs individually.
