Off-campus physical activity approval requests (for high school students) for the 2026-2027 school year will be accepted beginning May 1, 2026, and must be submitted by the approval deadline, January 31, 2027. Off-campus physical activity program approval requests may be submitted electronically by attaching to a Curriculum Request Form.
2025-2026 School Health Survey—Data Submission Due by May 29, 2026
The 2025-2026 School Health Survey is now available. Additional information regarding the survey and the link to participate in the survey are provided in the February 12, 2026, To the Administrator Addressed (TAA) Letter.
Districts and open-enrollment charter schools must complete the 2025-2026 survey before 5:00 p.m. (Central) on May 29, 2026.

Physical Fitness Assessment—Data Submission Due by June 12, 2026
State law (Texas Education Code §§38.101- 38.104) requires school systems to annually assess and submit data for students enrolled in grades 3 and higher. The deadline for submitting data for this school year is before 5:00 p.m. (Central) June 12, 2026.
For FitnessGram® Users School systems that took advantage of the FitnessGram state-funded licenses must enter data into FitnessGram.
- The last day to register for a FitnessGram site license for 2025–2026 is on or before 5:00 p.m. (Central) on May 29, 2026.

All other school systems All other school systems must enter physical fitness data into the Physical Fitness Assessment Initiative (PFAI) application.
- Detailed documentation to assist with the data upload as well as the data upload template are posted on the Physical Fitness Assessment Initiative web page under the Announcements heading.
- A TEA Login (TEAL) account is required to use the PFAI application. Please plan on two weeks to obtain a TEAL account.

Physical Fitness Assessment Initiative (PFAI) Data Upload Overview Sessions
TEA will be hosting overview sessions for school systems using the physical fitness assessment initiative (PFAI) application in the TEA Login (TEAL) to upload their fitness assessment data to the agency. The sessions will
- introduce the PFAI application in TEAL;
- explain the steps in the PFAI data upload process;
- highlight common errors when uploading data;
- review the Uploaded Data Summary; and
- provide guidance on using the PFAI help system located within the application.
Please note:
- The overview sessions are intended for school system staff that use the PFAI application to upload their data to the agency.
- School systems with FitnessGram accounts must only use the FitnessGram platform to report data.

Greenlight Fitness FitnessGram Overview Sessions
Greenlight Fitness (GLF) will be hosting overview sessions for school systems using the FitnessGram platform to complete their physical fitness assessment and data reporting requirements. Please note, superintendent approval is required for districts and charters choosing this platform.
The sessions will provide a walk-through of the platform and how to:
- opt-in for the entire district or charter;
- navigate the platform;
- create a test event;
- enter data into the test event; and
- run reports

New Qualtrics Reporting System for Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Vision, Hearing, and Spinal Screening Program
The DSHS Vision, Hearing, and Spinal Screening (VHSS) Program is hosting upcoming training opportunities on the new Qualtrics reporting system for this year’s annual screening report. The list of virtual training workshops based on facility type (public schools, private schools, and childcare facilities) can be found on the Eventbrite webpage.
