Update on the Social Studies TEKS Review Process
The State Board of Education (SBOE) review process for the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) calls for multiple, separate work groups. Work Group A convened earlier this month to develop draft recommendations on key topics and subtopics approved by the SBOE at its January 2026 meeting. The final version of the Work Group A document, which outlines the draft recommendations developed in accordance with the charge provided by the State Board of Education (SBOE), can be found on the SBOE website here https://tea.texas.gov/state-board-of-education/sboe-ss-k-12-work-group-a-draft.pdf. The draft TEKS are scheduled to be presented to the SBOE for discussion at a special-called meeting on February 25-26, 2026.
Public feedback and comments may be submitted to teks@tea.texas.gov. The deadline for submitting public feedback is Friday, February 27, 2026, at 5:00 PM.
Thank you for your ongoing support and thoughtful contributions to this work.
