2026 A–F Estimator tool for non-TEAL users
The A–F Estimator tool will soon be available to the public, allowing users outside of the TEAL system to calculate and estimate district or campus accountability ratings. The estimator will prepopulate domain and component values using 2025 results, and users will be able to enter new component values to estimate the corresponding domain and overall results for 2026 accountability.
2026 A-F Estimator is now available in TEAL
The A-F Estimator is now available in the TEA Login (TEAL) Accountability application. TEAL users are now able to access the A-F estimator in the “New Items” tab or by looking in the Performance Reporting tab under “2026 Accountability” within TEAL.
This A-F Estimator tool enables the calculation and estimation of a district or campus's performance in each domain and overall ratings. The estimator prepopulates domain and component values using 2025 results. Users can enter new component values to estimate the corresponding domain and overall results for 2026 accountability. The accuracy and validity of the estimation depend solely on the data input by the user.
For districts that have at least one campus rated under AEA criteria, an AEA-specific A-F Estimator is also available in TEAL.
2026 Data Resource now available: 2 Lowest Performing Race/Ethnic Groups
Stakeholders now have additional data with which to plan for the 2025-26 school year. In the 2025 Accountability Reports, under the Closing the Gaps Domain Rating and Scores, users will see the campus’s two lowest-performing Race/Ethnic groups used in Domain 3 calculations for both 2025 and 2026 ratings. This information will also be available on the TEA Login (TEAL) Accountability application.
Please note, this was originally shared as a new feature on TEAL and the Accountability Downloads, but is available through TEAL and Accountability Reports. This additional data tool can be used to inform planning for the groups that will be evaluated in Closing the Gaps for 2026 and is based on 2025 results.

In the example shown above, the TEAL report, the groups evaluated for 2025 accountability are in bold and were 1) All students 2) African American 3) Hispanic, and 4) High Focus. Based on this school’s 2 lowest performing groups in 2025, the groups evaluated in 2026 will be 1) All students 2) African American 3) Two or More Races, and 4) High Focus.
Texas Accountability Advisory Group (TAAG) Nomination Window Open Until October 24, 2025
The Texas Education Agency is accepting nominations for new members for the Texas Accountability Group (TAAG). The committee is charged with identifying broader potential improvements to the academic accountability system, bringing creative solutions and best practices to the group for discussion, and assessing the impact of legislation and stakeholder feedback on the academic accountability system. TAAG generally meets once a month, and its members are appointed by the Commissioner of Education, serving terms of three to five years.
TAAG members serve as critical advisors in the accountability system development process. TAAG members demonstrate each of the following:
-
Expertise in education: Committee members should possess a deep understanding of educational principles, practices, and policies relevant to the A-F accountability system.
-
Knowledge of assessment and evaluation: Committee members should be familiar with assessment methods, data analysis, and evaluation techniques.
-
Impartiality and fairness: Committee members should demonstrate objectivity and impartiality in their decision-making process, avoiding conflicts of interest.
-
Broad understanding of the entire system: Committee members should demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and insight that span multiple areas, ensuring their contributions reflect the overall goals and intent for all Texas public schools.
-
Communication skills: Committee members should possess strong communication skills that are necessary for effectively articulating decisions, explaining rationales, and facilitating discussions among panel members, as well as Texas educators and additional stakeholders.
For more info on TAAG, please review TAAG Charter 2024-25. If you know someone who brings thoughtful insight, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to improving educational outcomes, consider nominating them. You may submit a nomination using the 2025-2026 TAAG Nomination Form.
FAQs
When is the 2025 Fall Snapshot Date?
There was an error in the previously published Chapter 13 Accountability Calendar regarding the Fall Snapshot Date, which was incorrectly listed as October 24, 2025. The correct Fall Snapshot Date is October 31, 2025. Please refer to the updated calendar in the 2026 Accountability Manual — Chapter 13: Accountability Calendar to ensure accurate planning and reporting.
When can IBCs and Dual Credit courses for CCMR be earned?
In Appendix H, there was a slight formatting issue that incorrectly implied when dual credit or Industry-Based Certifications could be earned, which has been corrected to show that these indicators can be earned any time in the preceding four years for CCMR. This issue was corrected in the 2026 Accountability Manual, Appendix H.
For both of these questions, we appreciate the stakeholders who flagged these for us and encourage you to update your copy of the manual if you work primarily from a printed or saved copy.
