TEA is announcing the availability of grant funds for the 2025-2026 Phone Free Schools Grant Program. Request for Application (RFA) # 701-25-129 is authorized by the SB1 Sec. 18.16. Contingency for House Bill 1481. The RFA is available on the TEA Grant Opportunities Page.

Grant Period
- September 22, 2025, through August 31, 2026.
- Pre-award is available from June 20, 2025 (if selected for funding)
Funding
- A total of approximately $20,000,000 is available for this grant program.
Description
The purpose of this program is to support school systems in complying with House Bill 1481, which requires all school systems to adopt and implement a policy prohibiting the use of personal communication devices by students on school property during the school day.
Application Deadline
Applications must be received by the Texas Education Agency by 11:59 p.m. (Central Time), September 08, 2025, to be considered for funding.
