Updates related to Educator Preparation Program Management
New: EPP Interactive Map Quarterly Update The EPP Interactive Map posted on the TEA website will be updated in early May for the next quarter. If your EPP has recently had an address, telephone number, or website change, or if you have had certificates removed from your inventory, please submit a Help Desk ticket to Preparation Programs identifying the requested change, and we will update your EPP on the Interactive Map.
New: Correction for Upcoming Deadlines Last week, the EPP newsletter had a typo in the upcoming deadline section. The deadline was incorrectly identified for “Title I Reporting” when it should have said “Title II Reporting”. The upcoming deadline now reflects that this reporting is for Title II Reporting, which is reporting for teacher preparation. Thank you to the sharp-eyed readers who pointed this out to us!
Reminder: Introduction to Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS) for EPPs Webinar & FAQ Now Posted The "Introduction to RBIS for EPP" webinar recording and resources are now available on the Program Provider Resources page under Training Events and Materials. This session explores Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS), their purpose, construction, and alignment with High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM).
Reminder: Intermittent Insight to Impact Dashboards Outages Due to some recent updates, there have been intermittent outages of the Insight to Impact Dashboards. We are continuing to work internally to better understand when system-wide updates might affect I2I so that we can provide advance notice about such updates and outages.
Reminder: Action Required - Title II Reporting The Title II website is now available for all EPPs to complete their required federal reporting. All EPP Title II representatives should have received notification via email. If your EPP’s Title II reporting lead did not receive an email, please reach out to title2@trewon.com.
To begin, please log in to the system. Go to https://title2.ed.gov/ and select "Submit Reports" in the upper righthand corner of the webpage. Your username and password remain the same. To recover a username or password, select "Forgot your username or password?" and enter your email.
For support in completing this report, please visit https://title2.ed.gov/Public/TA.aspx for links to a Glossary of Key Terms and Reporting Requirements. Instructions are included in the reporting instrument. If you have specific questions, please email title2@trewon.com.
This reporting is due April 30. As a reminder, TEA does not provide technical support for this required federal reporting. We do, however, monitor EPP completion to ensure that all EPPs are in compliance with this requirement.
Pro Tip: In the past, responses from the Title II Help Desk have been delayed during high volume times. We suggest doing this reporting as soon as possible, so that you can avoid any challenges with their Help Desk.
Updates related to actions by the State Board for Educator Certification, the State Board of Education, and the Legislature.
New: April 2025 SBEC Meeting The April SBEC meeting will be held on Friday, April 25th. More information about the SBEC meeting, including the meeting agenda and access to view the meeting virtually, can be found on the SBEC webpage.
New: Recently Adopted Updates to SBEC Rules In February 2025, the SBEC adopted proposed updates to three chapters of SBEC rules, which the SBOE approved last Friday, April 11. The updated chapters, along with links to the updated rule text, can be found below:
We take this space to highlight questions that we have heard from .
Q: Is my EPP required to collect all transcripts at admission for each applicant to my EPP?
A: Yes, the EPP must collect all transcripts for applicants at admission. The rationale behind requesting all transcripts for determining GPA at admission per 19 TAC §227.10 (3)(A) is that without reviewing each transcript, the EPP may not be able to determine the 2.5 GPA or 2.5 in the last 60 hours. The EPP will also need all transcripts to be able to find the content GPA for teacher applicants per 19 TAC §227.10(a)(4)(A-C) because the applicant may have content hours spread across different transcripts. For the EPP to make accurate informed decisions about an applicant’s admission GPA or a teacher applicant’s content area hours used for admission, the EPP needs to have all official transcripts from the applicant.
Q: How can my EPP locate the Minimum Required Number of Observations (observation types) in our ECOS Green Screen?
A: The observation types are found in your Green Screen by navigating to ASEP>Upload Observations>Select Upload Type>Observations to find the link to “Minimum Required Number of Observations”. That link in your Green Screen takes you to the EPP Reporting Definitions page that contains Form A and Form B options. Form B contains the required observations for candidates who fall under legacy 19 TAC §228.35(g) & (h) and Form A contains the required observations for candidates who began the clinical experience on 9/1/2024 or after. Both forms reference the required number of observations with the associated TAC per assignment for each type of clinical experience. This is what your Green Screen will look like when you have navigated to the Observations page:
