Updates related to Educator Preparation Program Management

Reminder: ASEP Reporting 2024-2025 Mid-Year Data Set Availability
The Mid-Year Data Sets for 2024-2025 will be put into the ShareFile file locker available to Legal Authorities or Primary Points of Contact in late March/early April. The Legal Authority or Primary Point of Contact will receive an email when the data can be accessed in ShareFile. The data will include documentation. All listed Back-up Legal Authorities and Certification Officers will receive an email notifying them that the Legal Authority or Primary Point of Contact now has access to the data in Sharefile.

As in prior years, the Mid-Year data sets will include

  • Year-to-Date Pass Rates
  • Year-to- Date Observations
  • 5-Year Continuing Enrollment Status

We recommend that EPPs use the data sets to monitor ASEP progress for the year. There is no requirement to use this information.

FAQs

We take this space to highlight questions that we have heard from EPPs.

Q: Our EPP has an applicant for admission who has completed 30 clock-hours of field-based experiences (FBE) at her previous EPP. Does she have the required FBE completed once admitted to our EPP?

A: The educator has not completed the required FBE. Because the candidate is being admitted to your EPP after September 1, 2024, she is accountable to meet the FBE requirement of 50 clock-hours that is currently in effect. The EPP will decide, based on EPP policy, whether the previously completed 30 hours meets requirements for transfer credit in 19 TAC §228.35. The candidate must then complete any hours that remain to meet the 50 clock-hour requirement. The FBE requirements are in 19 TAC §228.43 and guidance regarding FBE is available in the Chapter 228 Adoption FAQ document located on the Program Provider Resources page.

Q: Do the 50 clock-hours of field-based experiences count toward the 300 required hours of coursework?

A: Yes, the 50 clock-hours of FBE are a part of the minimum 300 hours of required coursework and training for Teacher candidates. Reference 19 TAC §228.37 & 19 TAC §228.41. Guidance regarding FBE is also available in the Chapter 228 Adoption FAQ document located on the Program Provider Resources page. Resources page.
