The TEA STEM Toolkit:

Are STEM community and family engagement opportunities a key focus for the spring? TEA has developed tools to help stakeholders engage with each other through STEM education. Mobile Lab

Monte Alto ISD (Region 1)

In March, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) launched the first Texas Mobile STEM Laboratory from the expanded fleet. The Texas Mobile STEM Laboratories are innovative labs that provide kindergarten through 8th grade students with hands-on opportunities to tackle engineering design challenges and collaboratively create products or processes. Developed by Learning Undefeated and supported by the TEA, the activities are aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards and offered at no cost to participating schools.

The inaugural session saw grades 2–5 students from Roberto Grate in Monte Alto ISD become the first in Texas to experience the new laboratory. During their visit, 121 students designed solutions for delivering a package, created hand pollinators to address bee shortages, and solved flooding-related problems. The Monte Alto ISD students excelled in these engineering design challenges, showcasing their creativity and problem-solving skills.
