The Texas Education Agency announces the debut of two new mobile STEM labs
Beginning in March 2025, the Texas Mobile STEM Laboratory will have three mobile labs serving districts across Texas. In the 2025–2026 school year, the full fleet of nine mobile laboratories will be regionally based, to maximize the number of schools, students, and teachers served each year.
Texas Mobile STEM Laboratory Application Window will Open Soon
Through a partnership between the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Learning Undefeated, the Texas Mobile STEM Lab will continue to provide STEM engagement opportunities for students during the 2025–2026 school year. Using custom-outfitted STEM learning spaces, the mobile labs offer engaging, hands-on educational experiences for kindergarten through grade 8 students and teachers. The application window is April 1, 2025, through May 31, 2025. All Texas public schools that offer classes for kindergarten through grades 8 are eligible to register for a free visit during the 2025–2026 school year.
Texas EcosySTEM Professional Development
Statewide STEM Teacher Training (A TEALearn Badge can be earned for this training.)
This professional development prepares teachers for successful implementation of STEM instruction in their classrooms by immersing teachers directly in the role of STEM learner, engaging first-hand in high-impact STEM practices such as project-based learning, design-based challenges, and computational thinking. This training is available through the education service centers (ESC).
TEA’s STEM Coordinators Network:
This group is designed for district and campus-level STEM coordinators, education service center STEM leads, higher education STEM directors, and STEM directors at non-profit organizations—anyone involved in decision making for STEM programs at a systemic level. Corrigan-Camden ISD (Region 6)
The Texas Mobile STEM Lab recently visited Corrigan-Camden Elementary School, providing an exciting and educational experience for 291 kindergarten–grade 5 students. During the visit, students engaged in various engineering design challenges, sparking their interest in STEM fields.
The Learning Undefeated team members were praised for their exceptional knowledge and ability to work wonderfully with the students. One fifth-grade teacher shared, "I would love to incorporate more STEM activities in my classroom, and this has been a great learning experience for me."
The students' enthusiasm was evident in their feedback. A first-grade student exclaimed, "Today I learned reading, math, and science, and I didn't even realize how much I learned because it was so much fun!" A third-grade student added, "I learned that anyone can be an engineer, even me!"
Shelby Thompson, educator, shared that the excitement from the visit lingered long after the event, with students still talking about the mobile STEM lab a week later. This visit has left a lasting impact on the young minds at Corrigan-Camden ISD.

Liberty ISD (Region 5)
Liberty Middle School recently welcomed the Texas Mobile STEM Lab, providing an enriching experience for 277 students in grades 6–8. The visit was a resounding success, with students and staff alike praising the professionalism and promptness of the STEM Lab team.
"We really enjoyed working with the STEM Lab folks! They were prompt and professional, and our kids got a lot out of it," shared Principal Nathaniel Matkin. The lessons were particularly appreciated for integrating science, business, and math, and offering students a comprehensive learning experience.
The visit also included a family STEM night, which was highly recommended by those who attended. The principal noted, "I also appreciated the message that our kids could do anything they wanted to with real-world examples to apply skills learned post-graduation." The impact of the visit was profound, with students gaining valuable insights and inspiration.

Congratulations Socorro Independent School District
The Socorro Independent School District is proud to announce that three of its campuses have earned the prestigious Campus Certification from the National Institute for STEM Education (NISE). This accomplishment underscores the district's commitment to excellence in STEM education.
Escontrias STEAM Academy, Sierra Vista STEAM Academy, and Montwood High School have demonstrated exceptional dedication to advancing STEM education by meeting the rigorous standards set forth by NISE. To achieve this certification, each campus had a minimum of five educators complete the National Certificate for STEM Teaching (NCST), a testament to their commitment to professional development and educational excellence. This achievement highlights their individual efforts and reflects the district's ongoing commitment to providing high-quality STEM education to all students.

Region 4 ESC's Science Speaker Series

The Region 4 Education Service Center is excited to announce the Science Speaker Series, presented in partnership with Shell. This engaging webinar series, facilitated by National Science Teaching Association expert Kate Soriano, is designed to explore best practices in science education. Each session features a 1.5-hour webinar packed with actionable strategies that educators can immediately implement in their classrooms. Additionally, two weeks after each webinar, participants have the opportunity to join an optional virtual mentoring session.
